John Barrowman, Captain Jack Harkness — both pretty freaking awesome. I first saw John Barrowman in Doctor Who, but I only really noticed him once I started watching Torchwood (I’m chalking it up to being utterly distracted by David Tennant in the later seasons and being in favor of Nine/Rose in the first).
First of all, Captain Jack Harkness. He’s pretty wonderful. He’s got The Coat; he’s an irrepressible flirt who practically oozes charisma and leadership (particularly in Torchwood and the post-“The Parting of the Ways” episodes of Doctor Who); he’s completely loyal to the Doctor; he goes around saving the world the best he can. He also gives us scenes like this:
Oh, and John Barrowman. I spent a fair amount of time Christmas Eve night watching YouTube videos of John Barrowman. He’s adorable. There’s just so much to love about him.
He has a fabulous singing voice. He’s been on Broadway, in movies (he sang “Springtime for Hitler” in The Producers), and on tour, and he has at least three CDs out.
He’s openly gay. He and his partner have been together for over fifteen years, and in all of the video clips I’ve seen, they’re really sweet together.
He has a killer smile.
And he is so charming! And David Tennant backing him up for the theme song is just too cute for words.
