First and foremost, I’d like to go back to Korea (ROK/South Korea, of course). I’ve been three times, but I haven’t been back since 2006. I’m actually planning a trip back with my cousin. I am so excited. The food, the shopping, the busy press of people in the streets — everything is exhilarating. And that’s without taking into account that it’s where I’m from. Going back to Korea brings me back to my roots in the most basic sense. The US is my country and my home, without question, but Korea is still somehow essential to who I am.
Aside from Korea, I’d like to go to France some day. I adore good food — it’s one of my biggest priorities when I travel. David Lebovitz makes Paris sound fantastic. Actually, Italy would also be great. Same with Spain (I even speak some Spanish, and it’s always nice to be not completely confused in another country).
And lastly, New Zealand. I was, at one point in time, an enormous fan of The Lord of the Rings (I own all three extended editions of the movies). I’d still rather love to go to New Zealand, where most of the movie was shot, and see some of the views. Obviously, Hobbiton is no longer there. Much of the movies’ sceneries were CGI. But enough is just New Zealand that I think it’d be worth it.
