The Little Things Make Me Smile

I’ve been feeling a bit out of sorts for the past few days — stressed about job searching and deeply missing people in Chicago, mostly — and so I decided to make a list of things that make me happy. More than that, I decided to compile a group of photos from the past week or two (not just of people and places that I miss) that make me smile.

Pumphouse Creamery's Sea Salt Caramel Ice Cream with Pecan Praline

Croissant from Turtle Bread Company

Goslings! May 29rd

Yum

Crispin -- I had it for the first time at The Bad Apple in Chicago at GqC's Board Game Night

Waffle Cone with Black Hills Gold from Grand Ole Creamery

A perfect avocado is a wondreful thing.

Look how close I was to Darren Criss! Supermegafoxyawesomehot.

Okay, so, it’s still pretty heavily focused on good food. I’m working on that. But photos of friends take a little more time because I need to check whether it’s okay to use the photos (I don’t want to plaster photos of people around the internet without their knowledge and permission, after all — the Glee cast don’t count because they’re basically public figures, not personal friends).

Still, it’s nice to have the reminder that life is good, even when things aren’t going my way. The little things in life — like going to an old favorite ice cream place, or seeing fuzzy baby birds, or eating a perfectly ripe avocado — are important, too.
