On The Rachel Maddow Show, Rachel has a segment about “The Best New Thing In The World Today.” Well, I’m going to borrow that idea because the best new thing in my world today is the Sex with Timaree podcast. I’ve just discovered it, and it’s made the time fly by during my last two commutes home. It’s fantastic — I started listening because of her interview with Qui Alexander (a really awesome person I kinda knew in college), and then I got pulled in with the “Drag, Burlesque, Gender and The Notorious OMG” interview.
From what I can tell, Timaree finds fierce people to interview on her podcast and has really engaging conversations with them. I thought that perhaps the first was a fluke — perhaps I liked it so much because I knew the person being interviewed (and he’s great). With how I taken I was with the second, though, I knew that wasn’t the case.
To quote her website, “Sexologist Timaree Schmit earned a Ph.D. in Human Sexuality Education from Widener University, the culmination of a lifelong search for rational, sex-positive, empirically-based knowledge about sexuality.” I’ve really enjoyed what I’ve heard thus far of the podcast; Timaree is refreshingly open-minded, and the conversation, though honest and often humorous, is tasteful. By which I mean, although I wouldn’t necessarily want to listen to the podcast with my mom (and definitely not with my dad), I clearly am not embarrassed to encourage other people (over the age of 18) to listen to it, as I’m blogging about it.
In summary: if you are eighteen or older, and you’re interested in hearing people have frank and interesting conversations about all kinds of issues (including sex and sexuality) — and you have access to iTunes — you should check out the Sex With Timaree podcast. And that’s why Sex With Timaree (Podcast Edition) is the best new thing in my world today.
