Almost the first thing the Eleventh Doctor did was walk into a tree. Fabulous. Also, nice to see that the TARDIS is much bigger on the inside (and the pool is inside the library?). The food scene is excellent. And the scene — and the music! — when Amelia is packing is so sweet and so sad; my heart just aches for the little girl because I know that the Doctor isn’t coming. At first, I was in disbelief that they were actually titling an episode of Doctor Who “The Doctor’s Wife” (so obvious!) — and then that River Song wasn’t in it! There’s been this big question of River Song’s identity, and whether she’s married to the Doctor. It’s been an ongoing mystery since the fourth season — even the revelation last week of who River Song is doesn’t really answer the question of whether she and the Doctor are married. I just couldn’t see how they would make this episode work. Continue reading
Why River is the Best Match for the Doctor
The Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) and River Song (Alex Kingston)
As far as I’m concerned, River Song and the Doctor belong together. They are, without a doubt, my Doctor Who OTP (One True Pairing). Granted, I haven’t seen most of the classic Who, but of all of the people in the new Who, River Song is the best person for the Doctor. I love their chemistry; I love their potential.
